Hi Everyone!
Yes, it's that time again. We're lacing up our sneakers and heading out for the annual 5km Hike For Hospice fund raising event.
We are meeting up at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre and heading out on Saturday, May 4th 2024 at 10:00AM for the hike.
I am so very proud to be a volunteer member of Hospice Care Ottawa. Over the years I have witnessed so many thoughtful and grateful families. We are continuously applauded for the assistance and efforts they have witnessed for their loved one by our host of staff and volunteers.
Many families have entered and not been familiar with Hospice Care Ottawa previously. At first, they are very concerned for the move their loved one is making into hospice. However, as soon as they enter, they are greeted and given a warm welcome by our staff and volunteers and their smiles of confidence says it all. They immediately feel the caring that goes into looking after their loved one from their first moment they enter until their final day.
Of course, everything is no charge. The doctors and nurses care, the nourishing good food provided by kitchen staff and volunteers, as well as friendly volunteer and staff visits, looking to assist in any way possible.
So it is very easy to see why I enjoy the various roles I play, and why I am so very grateful and proud to serve Hospice Care Ottawa.
